Peter van der Ploeg
Peter van der Ploeg (1954, Rhenen) graduated at the Art Academy in Arnhem in 1976.
He lives and works in Harlingen since 1981.
Peter van der Ploeg turns to landscape to find his subject matter. This is where he finds stillness, tension, loneliness or danger.
Human beings, whether actually present or not, are mostly the cause of the subdued tension.
People and nature are entwined, eventually attaining a state of harmony together.
He uses an almost photographic technique in order to achieve this result in his paintings.
Paintings of Peter van der Ploeg have been shown in the Fries Museum in Leeuwarden and at the KunstRAI in Amsterdam.
