Ala Khonikava
Ala Khonikava (Mogilev - Belarus, 1974) graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in her motherland.
She has been living in the Netherlands for over a decade. For her it is the land of sorrow landscapes and happy smiling people.
Her studio is in Meppel, where she works on different projects, always in an impressionistic way.
Landscapes play the main role in her work: the natural shapes and lines of trees, the rhythm of reed and branches, sharp contrasts of the sky and field, playing with light and shadow. She can be touched by simple things in nature, like an autumn leaf or a stone with a special pattern on it.
Through her art she would like to give a structure and colour accent to an interior, to make a beautiful living space.
However an art piece must touch your heart, make you look around a different way, see the unnoticed things, such as a playfulness ray of light, between reed stalks.
